SERVALO is an AI company with an unglamorous belief: the best thing this technology will ever do is make small businesses money and save them from work they shouldn't be doing. So instead of chasing every industry at once, we spent our time inside one — with the companies who actually run it — and built for what we found. Not demos. Not headlines. Booked jobs, on a real calendar, at 7:40 PM on a Saturday.
Most of what gets called AI right now is a demo — impressive for ninety seconds, and then somebody in an office still has to do the actual job. We started building because we kept seeing the same gap: enormous capability on one side, and on the other, a small business owner answering their own phone from the driver's seat because nobody built the boring thing that would have handled it.
So that's the whole company. We build the boring thing. The part that actually picks up, actually asks the right questions, actually writes the job to the calendar, and can be checked line by line afterward. If it doesn't show up on a shop's P&L, we're not interested in building it.
And we want to be part of what happens next in this trade — not selling from the outside, but building alongside the shops doing the work. The industry is about to change whether or not anyone asks it to. We'd rather help push it forward on terms that favor the small operator.
We could have built a generic AI receptionist for every industry at once. Everybody does — and it's exactly why those products get fired in a month. A generic bot can take a message. It can't tell an emergency from an inconvenience, doesn't know a condenser from a coil, and has no idea that the tech you just sent isn't certified to touch refrigerant.
Residential HVAC is unforgiving in a way that made it the right choice: the calls are urgent, the money is real, the safety stakes are genuine, and the difference between a good CSR and a bad one is thousands of dollars a week. So instead of spreading ourselves across ten industries, we spent our time in this one — with HVAC companies themselves. Owners, dispatchers, and techs, talking through how they qualify a call, how they decide who gets sent, how they price, and everything that quietly falls through when the phone is ringing off the hook in July.
Then we configured the agent around what those conversations turned up — not around what was easy to build. Every point below came out of that work, and every one of them is something you can trigger on the demo line right now.
A CSR doesn’t ask “how can I help?” and hang up. They ask what the system is doing, what it sounds like, whether it’s blowing, when it started, what the thermostat says. We studied how good shops actually qualify a call — then taught the agent to ask the same things, in the same order, without ever re-asking what the caller already told it.
Gas smells, carbon monoxide, sparking, burning. We wrote those responses from utility and CPSC guidance and hard-coded them, so the model delivers the words but never decides them. It can raise an alarm; it can never lower one. That was the first thing we built, not the last.
Refrigerant work needs an EPA-608 certified tech. Skills, zones, shifts and drive times decide who actually gets a job. So dispatch scores on all of it and shows the reason in plain English — and warns you on a mismatch instead of quietly overruling your call.
Maintenance plans are the difference between a busy summer and a real business. The agent sells yours in your words, recognizes members when they call, knows whose tune-ups are used — and hands billing questions straight to your office.
Homeowners don’t talk like technicians. They say “it’s just blowing warm air” at 9 PM with kids in the house, and plenty of them say it in Spanish. So the agent handles a messy, emotional, bilingual call — because that’s the call that actually comes in.

Then we run test calls with you, including the emergency drill, before a single customer hears it. When you want something changed, you text the people who write the code.
That doesn't scale forever, which is exactly why it's worth taking now: founding partners keep their rate, and their feedback is what the next version gets built out of. The research didn't stop when we shipped — the shops running this are still the ones telling us what to build.
